Campass is a real-time app specially built for students and campuses. It helps students make faster decisions about where to go and what to do on campus. Students can search for personalized recommendations for any places, whether to eat, study, hang out, thrift and more. They can also use an interactive live map with pinpoints of locations they might be interested in. Each location has a pop-up card showing AI-analyzed real-time information such as quietness, crowdedness, outlet availability, cleanliness, etc. based on verified updates submitted by students. They also include description, reviews, comments and useful tips like “This place only accepts cash” or “This library allows drinks but not food.” Students can add new places, which are then verified by admins. Compass also features an AI-powered chatbot that answers any queries. For example, “Which library is open, least crowded and how’s the condition there right now?” Chatbot will respond, “Moffitt 4F is quiet; nearby restroom is clean; tables ~70% full.” What’s special about our app are data that are only focused on campuses. For instance, campus-specific private transportation data including private bus lines, hidden shortcuts and resources like night shuttles and events/promos. Compass delivers the most accurate, real-time view of student life built to maximize the students’ experience. We use a tree-like data structure. Each place (building, floor, zone, café, restroom, printer) is linked to its parent and nearby spots. Verified student tags update live scores for quietness, crowdedness, cleanliness, etc. and recent taps are weighted more. This structure gives our AI model a more accurate and faster response. Also, we would display events from official calendars and club feeds are attached to venues so what’s happening now shows up right alongside places.
